Rakuten Kobo, a leading e-reader manufacturer, has announced the launch of its first-ever color e-readers, the Kobo Libra Colour and the Kobo Clara Colour. These new devices feature E Ink’s latest Kaleido color screen technology, offering subtle, pastel-like hues and a 150ppi resolution when displaying content in color.

The Kobo Libra Colour, priced at $219.99, comes with physical page-turning buttons and is compatible with the Kobo Stylus 2 for note-taking. On the other hand, the $149.99 Kobo Clara Colour boasts an improved processor, 16GB of storage, and the same IPX8 waterproof design as its predecessor, the Kobo Clara 2E.

Additionally, Kobo has introduced an upgraded black-and-white e-reader, the Kobo Clara BW, priced at $129.99, featuring similar storage and processor enhancements. All these devices are available for pre-order and are set to ship on April 30th.

These new color e-readers are seen as incremental upgrades to Kobo’s existing range, offering enhanced features and performance. With their availability for pre-order, readers can look forward to experiencing a new dimension in e-reading with vibrant color displays and improved functionality.
