Raccoon Causes Chaos at Hersheypark

A feisty raccoon caused chaos at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania last week, attacking innocent bystanders and sending terrified onlookers scrambling for safety. The wild critter, which made its appearance on the park’s opening day for the year, terrorized a group of waiting riders in line for the SooperDooperLooper coaster, even biting a young girl and running off with her shoe.

Video footage captured the pandemonium as panicked screams rang out amid the frenzy. The raccoon’s aggressive behavior left everyone in a state of fear, especially when it returned for a second round of chaos.

While the raccoon eventually scurried off without incident, the incident served as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by such encounters. Raccoons are known as primary carriers of rabies, which can pose a serious risk to humans. Although there is no indication that the raccoon in question was rabid, the situation underscored the need for caution.

Hersheypark, which has been in operation for over 100 years, stated that this was the first time they had dealt with such an incident. The park, surrounded by nature, quickly responded to provide necessary care to those directly impacted by the raccoon’s actions. Two individuals were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Despite the unsettling episode, Hersheypark assured the public that the raccoon had not been captured and had not returned since the incident. The park’s swift response and the absence of further sightings provided some reassurance to visitors.
