Protecting Your Eyes During the Rainy Season

The rainy season brings relief to the eyes with its greenery, but it also poses risks to eye health, especially with the increased likelihood of conjunctivitis. During monsoon, eye infections such as conjunctivitis, fungal, viral, bacterial infections, and allergies become more prevalent, leading to symptoms like redness, dryness, itching, and pain in the eyes. These issues can even trigger headaches and migraines. It is crucial to prioritize eye care during this season, as modern lifestyles with prolonged screen time, radiation, and pollution can also contribute to eye problems like glaucoma, cataracts, and myopia.

Common eye problems during the rainy season include conjunctivitis, viral and bacterial infections, and eye allergies. Symptoms of conjunctivitis include redness, dryness, itching, swelling of the eyelids, pain, red eyes, swelling, and watery eyes. Factors contributing to pink eyes include poor lifestyle habits, online activities, radiation, pollution, cataracts, glaucoma, and myopia.

To improve eyesight, incorporating pranayama for 30 minutes in the morning and evening, practicing Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari techniques seven times, and consuming ‘Maha Triphala Ghrita’ mixed with milk twice a day after meals can be beneficial. Aloe vera and amla juice, as well as triphala and rose water, are also recommended for eye health.

For home remedies, a mixture of white onion juice, ginger lemon juice, honey, rose water, and gooseberry juice can be applied with two drops in the eyes every morning and evening. These natural remedies can help alleviate eye issues and promote better eye health during the monsoon season.
