Price Chopper in Taylor, Lackawanna Co. to Permanently Close in April

The Price Chopper supermarket in Taylor, Lackawanna Co. is scheduled to permanently close its doors in April, the company announced. The closure comes after a thorough review of the store’s current and future viability, leading to the decision that shutting down the store is the appropriate action to take.

Blaine Bringhurst, President of Price Chopper/Market 32, stated in a press release, “We have a long history in the community and are grateful to all of our teammates and customers who have supported us over the years. It’s never easy to close a store, and we rarely do, but we have an obligation to make business decisions that support the company’s continued health and growth.”

All 85 employees, including 23 full-time and 62 part-time workers, have been offered positions at other stores in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area, ensuring that the impact of the closure on employment is minimized.

This announcement has raised concerns among the local community and has prompted discussions about the potential impact on the area’s access to groceries and employment opportunities. The closure of the Price Chopper in Taylor is expected to have a significant effect on the local economy and the daily lives of residents.
