Power Outages Reported in Hanover, York, and Adams Counties Due to High Winds and Snow Squalls

Power outages have been reported in Hanover, York, and Adams counties as a result of high winds and snow squalls on Sunday. FirstEnergy has indicated that over 5000 people in Hanover and Penn Township are without power, with approximately 900 in McSherrystown and Oxford Township.

Several traffic lights, including those in Hanover’s downtown Center Square, are also affected by the power outages. Drivers are advised to treat non-functional traffic lights as four-way stops, following the Pennsylvania driver’s manual.

The estimated time for power restoration is 6:00 p.m., as listed on the outage report at 3 p.m. on Sunday. A wind advisory was in effect for the area from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, issued by the National Weather Service.

Additionally, multiple snow squalls were observed in Hanover Borough, resulting in visible snow on the ground during one occurrence around 3 p.m.
