A power outage on Sunday affected 4,700 Met-Ed customers in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, causing disruptions in the area. The outage, which began around 7:30 a.m., was a result of a transformer tripping off at the utility’s Third and Willow streets substation. Electricians were able to resolve the issue and bring the transformer back online by 9:30 a.m., but this led to a breaker opening at another interconnected substation, further impacting customers.
Lebanon city residents have been experiencing a series of outages in recent weeks, with this being the fourth major incident. The first outage occurred on June 7 when a circuit breaker opened at the Third & Willow streets substation. Subsequent outages on June 14 and June 19 were also reported, adding to the challenges faced by the community.
As per the outage dashboard maintained by Met-Ed owner First Energy, approximately 4,800 customers in Lebanon County were affected by the recent power outage. Most of the affected customers were in Lebanon city, with the remainder primarily located in North Lebanon Towns. While the majority of customers have had their power restored, around 1,398 customers still remain without service as of the latest update.
