Power Outage Affects 10,000 Homes and Businesses in Grand Rapids

Consumer’s Energy has reported a significant power outage in the city of Grand Rapids and surrounding areas, affecting approximately 10,000 homes and businesses in West Michigan. The outage, which began shortly before noon on Tuesday, is expected to be resolved by around 4:45 p.m. The impacted areas include parts of Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Township, East Grand Rapids, Ada Township, and Cascade Township. Traffic lights are also affected by the outage, with the official cause being listed as ‘equipment failure’.

UPDATE (April 9, 2024 – 2:00 p.m.): According to the Consumer’s Energy outage map, all power has been restored. This is a developing story.
