Two flights out of Miami International Airport were delayed Thursday evening after one of the planes clipped the other. An American Airlines jet hit a Frontier Airlines jet while backing up around 8:30 p.m., causing damage to both aircraft. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as only crew members were on board the Frontier aircraft at the time of the incident.
Frontier Airlines issued a statement confirming that they are currently assessing the damage and making arrangements to re-accommodate customers. Meanwhile, American Flight 929, bound for Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Frontier flight headed to Dallas, will both be out of commission for several weeks as they undergo repairs.
Passengers scheduled to board the Frontier plane expressed their frustration at the situation, with one traveler, Christian Galvez, sharing his experience of the delays and flight cancellations. American Airlines issued an apology for the disruption, stating that the aircraft involved was taken out of service for inspection by their maintenance team.
