Phoenix Suns were no match for the Los Angeles Clippers in their last game, as they lost by 27 points. Tonight they will try to end a 5-game losing streak against the other L.A. team in the Lakers. Kevin Durant and company lost to the Lakers in all 3 meetings this season, with all 3 games going down to the very last possession. Despite winning just once in their last 4 outings, the oddsmakers have the Suns as just +1.5 underdogs. What’s even more interesting is the fact that ESPN’s matchup predictor is picking the Suns to win, with a 52.7% chance of that happening. As underdogs, the Suns are just 3-8 SU this season; they have won only once in their last 5 visits to Crypto.com Arena.

Back-to-back wins over the Clippers and Raptors relieved some of the pressure on Lakers head coach Darvin Ham. Anthony Davis once again stood the tallest with 41 points in the win over Toronto and 6 other Lakers players scored in double-figures, which is also encouraging. The Lakers’ are a strong home team this season at 13-6 SU; that’s the only thing that’s kept this team afloat in the crowded Western Conference playoff race. Although the head-to-head numbers are pointing in their favor, let’s not overlook the fact that they are just 4-9 SU in their last 13 games. Both AD and LeBron James have ankle injuries and are questionable to play. Rui Hachimura, Cam Reddish and Gabe Vincent are almost certain not to play.

The Lakers have dominated this matchup, but at some point the Suns will respond. There is just too much talent on this team for them to get beaten by the same team 4 times in a row in the same season. The Lakers have recovered well following their slump earlier in the month, but I don’t think they are that good all of a sudden to win 3 straight. I’ll take the Suns to win on the road.
