A shocking incident occurred at Toronto Pearson International Airport when an Air Canada passenger opened a cabin door and fell about 20 feet to the ground from a Boeing 777. The incident caused a delay of approximately six hours for the flight bound for Dubai.
According to reports by Global News, the passenger boarded the aircraft normally before unexpectedly opening the cabin door, resulting in the fall onto the tarmac below. Emergency services were immediately summoned to the scene to attend to the individual’s injuries.
Following the incident, the flight’s departure to Dubai was significantly delayed, impacting the travel plans of the 319 passengers scheduled to be on board. Data from Flightradar24, a flight-tracking site, indicated that the flight eventually took off almost six hours behind schedule.
An Air Canada spokesperson confirmed that the airline’s approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were adhered to and emphasized ongoing review of the incident. This unsettling event comes shortly after another disruptive incident involving an Air Canada flight. On January 3, a flight from Toronto to Calgary was diverted due to a 16-year-old passenger’s assault on a family member, resulting in a three-hour delay.
These recent incidents have raised concerns about passenger behavior and safety measures within the airline industry. As investigations continue, authorities and airlines are striving to ensure the well-being and security of all passengers and crew members.
