Over 100 Mosquitos Test Positive For West Nile Virus in Coachella Valley

At the beginning of this month, 111 mosquitos were found to have tested positive for the West Nile Virus in the Coachella Valley. The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District has been actively monitoring for hot spots where mosquito viruses are present throughout the year. When these areas are identified, the team takes immediate action by treating and inspecting them accordingly.

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention has labeled mosquitoes as the world’s deadliest animals. If someone is bitten by a mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus, symptoms such as fever, headaches, and body aches may occur. Therefore, officials are urging residents to contribute to community efforts in combating the spread of the virus.
