Oppo and OnePlus smartphones are set to receive new AI-powered features through the ColorOS New Year Edition update, including Magic Eraser, AI image deletion, AI call summaries, and updates to Xiaobu Assistant and Xiaobu Photo Studio. The update, currently rolling out for 16 Oppo and OnePlus smartphones in China, brings over 100 AI-powered enhancements, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser on Pixel phones and Samsung’s AI capabilities on Galaxy devices.

The AI image deletion feature allows users to erase unwanted elements in photos, similar to the Magic Eraser on the latest Google Pixel 8 series. This functionality enables users to eliminate unwanted objects or people in the background of photos simply by highlighting a specific area, providing a cleaned-up shot without the need for professional editing software.

Another addition is the AI call summary feature, which generates transcriptions and timestamps after phone calls. This feature allows users to quickly review meeting notes, interview details, or anything else without taking manual notes during calls.

Xiaobu, Oppo’s voice-enabled smart assistant in China, has also received major AI upgrades for more life-like and natural conversations. The updates bring significant enhancements to the user experience, making the devices more intuitive and user-friendly.
