New York Jets’ Haason Reddick Absent from Voluntary Workouts, Coach Saleh Unfazed

New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick has been a topic of conversation lately as he has not been attending the team’s voluntary workouts since his acquisition from the Philadelphia Eagles in March. Despite the lack of communication between Reddick and coach Robert Saleh in recent weeks, Saleh remains unfazed, emphasizing that the offseason sessions have been voluntary.

Saleh expressed his expectation for Reddick to participate in the mandatory minicamp scheduled for the following week. He highlighted Reddick’s professionalism, acknowledging his extensive experience and past high-level performance in the league. Saleh reassured that Reddick is dedicated to preparing for a productive 2024 season.

At 29 years old, Reddick is in the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract with a base salary of $14.25 million for the upcoming season. During the offseason, the Eagles permitted Reddick to explore trade opportunities, hinting at a potential contract extension. However, Saleh deferred questions regarding Reddick’s contract situation to general manager Joe Douglas.

When asked about the specific reason for Reddick’s absence, Saleh admitted he was not aware of the details. It is common for NFL players to participate in voluntary spring workouts, with occasional absences due to personal reasons. Saleh acknowledged the importance of player attendance during this period for team cohesion and familiarity.

While Reddick’s presence at voluntary workouts remains uncertain, Saleh pointed out that another new addition to the team, defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, has been actively involved at the Jets’ facility throughout the spring. Saleh expressed gratitude for the players who have committed to the voluntary program, recognizing the significance of their efforts.

The Jets acquired Reddick, a seasoned two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher, from the Eagles in exchange for a conditional third-round pick in 2026. Saleh remains optimistic about Reddick’s potential impact on the team and looks forward to his participation in upcoming team activities.
