New Michigan Football Coach Invited to State of the Union Address

New Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore has been invited to attend President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address as a guest of U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Ann Arbor. This announcement was made by Dingell’s office, marking a significant honor for Moore.

Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Jim Harbaugh, who recently took on the head coaching role with the Los Angeles Chargers after a successful nine-season stint with Michigan, Moore is currently in the process of finalizing his coaching staff in preparation for the upcoming spring practice commencing on March 18.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Moore stated, “It is an extreme honor to attend on behalf of the University of Michigan, and I am excited to be part of one of the annual events in our governmental process.”

Dingell, who previously spoke at a celebration honoring the national championship team at Crisler Center on January 13, commended the University of Michigan’s national championship team for emphasizing the significance of teamwork throughout their program. She highlighted the importance of teamwork and bipartisanship in delivering wins for the American people, expressing her commitment to fostering collaboration across party lines.

This invitation to the State of the Union address draws parallels to Harbaugh’s attendance as a guest of Michigan Rep. Justin Amash during President Barack Obama’s tenure in 2016, signifying the continued relationship between the University of Michigan’s football program and the national political landscape.
