New Indie Racing Simulation Game ‘Golden Lap’ Set to Revolutionize Formula 1 Management

A new indie racing simulation game called ‘Golden Lap’ is set to revolutionize the world of Formula 1 management. Developed by Funselektor Labs in partnership with indie studio Strelka Games, the game offers a unique twist by placing players in the role of a team principal, steering the team through the exhilarating and experimental 1970s era of Formula 1.

Unlike its predecessors, ‘Golden Lap’ shifts the focus from driving to strategic decision-making, reminiscent of popular management games like Grand Prix Story and Football Manager. The game promises to capture the essence of a bygone era characterized by unconventional racing technologies and daring drivers.

With its visually stunning and minimalist design, ‘Golden Lap’ maintains a perfect balance between aesthetics and providing essential data for informed decision-making. Players will have the opportunity to allocate budgets, manage drivers, cars, crew, and sponsors, and fine-tune racing strategies throughout the season, all set against the backdrop of the dynamic 1970s open-wheel racing scene.

The game features iconic circuits such as Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, Imola in Italy, and Circuito del Jarama in Spain, offering a true-to-form experience without official licenses. The familiar-looking teams in the game add to the nostalgic appeal, further immersing players in the historic era of motorsport.

Dune Casu, the founder of Funselektor Labs, expressed the team’s desire to celebrate the thrilling and perilous nature of 1970s motorsport. He hinted at a deeper experience inspired by the era’s innovative designs and the notorious personas of drivers both on and off the track, teasing the possibility of fan car options in the game.

‘Golden Lap’ is slated for release on Steam later this year, with potential future availability on console or mobile platforms yet to be confirmed.
