Netflix has offered a sneak peek into its upcoming mini-series centered around the legendary Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna. The six-part series, a collaboration with the Senna family, will delve into the life of the three-time world champion, with Gabriel Leone taking on the lead role.
The teaser trailer, released on the 30th anniversary of Senna’s passing, showcases key moments from his career, including his iconic victory at the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix. Viewers will witness Leone embodying Senna as he prepares for the race and crosses the finish line in triumph.
However, the series aims to explore beyond Senna’s racing achievements. Netflix promises to portray Senna’s personal journey, from his early days in Formula Ford to his tragic accident at Imola’s San Marino Grand Prix. The narrative will delve into his relationships, triumphs, disappointments, and the essence of his character.
Joining Leone in the cast are Pâmela Tomé as Senna’s girlfriend Xuxa, Matt Mella as Alain Prost, Patrick Kennedy as Ron Dennis, Steven Mackintosh as Frank Williams, and Tom Mannion as Professor Sid Watkins. The series is helmed by showrunner Vinvente Amorim and co-director Julia Rezende, with Gustavo Bragança as head writer and Fabiano and Caio Gullanan as producers.
Netflix has not revealed the official release date for the series but has hinted at a launch later in 2024. Fans can anticipate a deep dive into the life and legacy of the iconic Ayrton Senna as the mini-series unfolds on the streaming platform.
