National Grid Enhances Power Supply in Foxboro to Reduce Outages

National Grid is intensifying efforts to reduce power failures in Foxboro by investing in upgrades to the local power supply. The town has been plagued by weather-related outages over the past decade, prompting the utility company to enhance its infrastructure.

Robert Moran, a community manager at National Grid, highlighted the recent reconstruction of the Elm Street substation as a significant step towards improving the power supply in Foxboro. The substation, situated across from the town highway garage, now boasts a 50% increase in capacity.

The move comes in response to incidents like a tree falling across Railroad Avenue in 2022, causing power outages for approximately 100 buildings in the downtown area. These disruptions have underscored the need for National Grid to fortify the local power grid.

Residents and businesses in Foxboro can expect more reliable electricity in the future as National Grid continues its maintenance and upgrade initiatives. By addressing vulnerabilities in the power system, the company aims to minimize the impact of unforeseen events and enhance the overall resilience of the town’s power infrastructure.
