NASA has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Verizon Business to bring a live broadcast of the upcoming solar eclipse to viewers around the world. The collaboration, supported by Leidos, involves the provision of a 1 gigabyte E-line service connecting the John Glenn Space Center to the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, enabling the transmission of various feeds to a global audience.
Michael Adams, associate vice president for federal civilian services at Verizon, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, ‘This is another example of the ability of our public sector team to deliver the types of solutions and technology that have helped make us a trusted partner for federal agencies like NASA.’
The project, completed in less than 30 days, has provided NASA with the necessary infrastructure to test video and broadcast capabilities ahead of the solar eclipse. Adams highlighted the speed at which the connection was established, ensuring that NASA will be able to broadcast the eclipse to a wide audience.
