A mysterious discovery beneath the ice in Antarctica has sparked wild conspiracy theories after a ‘pyramid’ was spotted in the Ellsworth Mountain range. Measuring 2km in each direction at its base, the pyramid-shaped mass has triggered intense speculation.
The sighting of the pyramid in satellite images has led to a frenzy on the internet, with people questioning how such a structure could exist in an uninhabitable area. The resemblance of the shape to the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt has only added to the intrigue.
Various theories have emerged, with some suggesting it belonged to a civilization that existed before the flood, while others have jokingly referenced the Illuminati. The discovery has ignited comparisons to previous baffling sightings in Antarctica, such as the spotting of a ship on an iceberg.
However, geology professor Eric Rignot has provided an alternative explanation, stating that the ‘pyramid’ is actually a natural feature known as a ‘pyramidal peaked mountain’, formed from the convergence of glaciers on the sides of an existing landmass. According to Rignot, the pyramid shape is not impossible in glaciated areas, but it is not indicative of a man-made structure.
