Music from Canceled GTA V Story DLC Resurfaces Years Later

Music enthusiasts and Grand Theft Auto (GTA) fans recently received an unexpected treat as music from a canceled story DLC for GTA V has resurfaced years after its cancellation. The revelation came from a musical duo who were involved in creating the music for the shelved project.

For years, fans have pondered the possibilities of what could have been with the unreleased story DLC for GTA V, especially considering the immense success of GTA Online. While certain concepts from the DLC made their way into GTA Online, a piece of music from one of the planned expansions has now emerged online, offering a glimpse into the untold storylines.

The Unseen Story Expansions

Through data mining efforts, it was discovered that GTA V was initially set to receive multiple story expansions that would delve into the narratives of the game’s three protagonists. One of the unreleased expansions, tentatively named ‘Agent Trevor,’ was expected to follow the character Trevor as he embarked on an undercover mission. Steven Ogg, the actor behind Trevor, hinted at the DLC’s espionage theme, likening it to a ‘James Bond Trevor,’ a concept that excited fans but unfortunately never materialized.

Despite the cancellation of the story DLC, elements of the proposed content were repurposed for GTA Online, notably in updates like The Doomsday Heist and The Diamond Casino Heist. These adaptations allowed players to experience some of the envisioned storylines, albeit in a different format.

Music Reveal and Origins

The recent revelation of the GTA V Story DLC music came to light when the GTA community page, GTA Focal, shared a video featuring a track titled ‘Clifford.’ The music was credited to the duo Sweet Valley, who independently released it in 2021. According to sources, the track was originally intended for the canceled story DLC centered around Trevor, further solidifying its connection to the unreleased expansion.

Nate Williams, one half of Sweet Valley and a prominent member of the band ‘Wavves,’ has ties to the GTA V universe through his band’s music featured in the game’s radio stations and missions. Additionally, Williams co-hosts the Vinewood Boulevard Radio station alongside Stephen Pope, another member of Wavves.

Adding intrigue to the music’s discovery, a Reddit user known as HeySlickThatsMe provided additional context, revealing that the track was initially shared on Sweet Valley’s Patreon in 2021. The user disclosed that ‘Clifford’ was one of the tracks created for the GTA V expansion, hinting at its significance within the unreleased content. The file name ‘Clifford 2 May 29’ suggests a chronological order, potentially linking the track to the Agent Trevor expansion.

While the canceled GTA V Story DLC remains a tantalizing ‘what if’ scenario for fans, the emergence of the music offers a rare glimpse into the creative process behind the unreleased content, sparking renewed interest in the game’s untold stories.
