Movano Health, a leading healthcare technology company, has recently made significant strides in improving the accuracy of heart rate monitoring in motion through the integration of advanced AI technologies. The company’s latest development involves the implementation of deep learning algorithms to enhance the accuracy of its heart rate monitoring system.
The recent engineering accuracy study, led by Movano Health Founder and CTO Michael Leabman, showcased the effectiveness of deep learning in refining heart rate measurements. The study, titled ‘Enhanced Heart Rate in Motion Accuracy with the Evie Ring Using Advanced Deep Learning Algorithms,’ highlighted the superior performance of deep learning in mitigating motion effects and noise in optical signals.
In a statement, Leabman emphasized the superiority of deep learning over traditional techniques, citing its ability to eliminate motion artifacts and deliver more precise heart rate readings. He expressed confidence in the innovative implementation of deep learning, which is poised to elevate the reliability of wearable health monitors, providing users with consistent and accurate heart rate data.
The study, which involved 65 subjects participating in various activities, including sleeping, resting, walking, running, and swimming, demonstrated a strong correlation between the Evie Ring’s heart rate algorithm and a control device, the Polar H7 chest strap. The results underscored the reliability of Evie’s heart rate monitoring across diverse physical activities.
To address the challenges associated with heart rate monitoring from PPG signals in wearables, Movano Health’s HR solution leverages a combination of signal processing techniques and AI-based Deep Learning. By effectively filtering out motion artifacts and enhancing signal-to-noise ratio through advanced AI algorithms, the company aims to provide users with more accurate and reliable health data.
Looking ahead, Movano Health plans to extend the application of deep learning algorithms to other health metrics, including sleep monitoring, respiration, heart rate variability, and blood oxygen saturation. This strategic initiative is expected to further enhance the performance and utility of Movano Health’s wearable devices, offering customers and enterprises access to medical-grade data in a user-friendly and innovative format.
