Monica Lewinsky on Becoming a Fashion Campaign Star at 50

The activist and writer Monica Lewinsky recently talked exclusively with ELLE about her experience as the face of Reformation’s “You’ve Got the Power” campaign. In a recent interview, Lewinsky shared her thoughts on being part of the campaign and the impact it has had on her.

Monica Lewinsky, known as a personal hero to many Gen X, millennial, and Gen Z women, has become the face of Reformation’s new campaign. Lauren Cohan, Reformation’s chief creative officer, expressed her admiration for Lewinsky, citing her TED talk on public shaming, which has garnered over 21 million views, as a pivotal moment that sparked her interest in working with Lewinsky.

Cohan emphasized that she had been an avid fan of Lewinsky for almost a decade and saw her as the perfect fit for the brand’s voting-centric “You’ve Got the Power” workwear campaign. The campaign, photographed by Zoey Grossman, aims to empower women and encourage them to recognize their strengths.

According to Cohan, the collaboration with Lewinsky was a serendipitous occurrence. After a mutual friend connected them, Lewinsky and Cohan met, and the latter tried to persuade Lewinsky to join the campaign with “smiles and Ref cashmere.”

During the interview, Lewinsky expressed her initial apprehension about being in front of the camera but praised the brand for hiring a movement coach to help her feel comfortable. She emphasized the importance of women recognizing areas where they may need assistance and asking for help, stating that it is a way for women to feel more empowered.

Reformation’s “You’ve Got the Power” campaign, featuring Monica Lewinsky, aims to empower women and promote a sense of confidence and strength. Through her involvement in the campaign, Lewinsky continues to inspire and uplift women across different generations.

As the campaign unfolds, it is evident that Monica Lewinsky’s impact extends beyond her activism and writing, making her a prominent figure in the fashion world.
