Recently, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been facing performance issues, causing a rocky start for the game on Steam with a ‘Mostly Negative’ average user score. However, modder PureDark has come to the rescue by releasing a free mod that enables NVIDIA DLSS 3 in the game.
According to PureDark, the developers had already implemented NVIDIA’s frame generation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 but hid the toggle in the graphics options to enable it. To address this, PureDark created a streamline dll (sl.interposer.dll) and swapped the game’s call to turn frame generation off, switching it on instead.
Testing the mod revealed a significant improvement in frame rate, nearly doubling with DLSS 3 enabled on a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. While the mod doesn’t entirely eliminate stuttering, it does enhance the sense of fluidity, offering a smoother gameplay experience for users equipped with GeForce RTX 40 hardware.
Although the mod can serve as a temporary solution, the broader CPU optimization issues still require attention from CAPCOM. Users can install the mod by extracting the file to the root Dragon’s Dogma 2 folder and overwriting it. It is essential to ensure that NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex are turned on in the game settings for DLSS 3 to be enabled by default.
With the potential for CAPCOM to officially expose the DLSS 3 setting to the public in the future, this mod offers hope for an improved gaming experience for Dragon’s Dogma 2 players.
