MLB Announces Jerry Garcia Tribute Nights Across the Country

Major League Baseball is gearing up to pay tribute to the legendary Grateful Dead guitarist, Jerry Garcia, with a series of special events set to take place this summer. The MLB has announced five Jerry Garcia tribute nights that will offer fans a unique opportunity to celebrate the iconic musician’s legacy.

The tribute nights will feature exclusive merchandise, live performances, and more to honor Garcia and his profound impact on music. Fans who purchase special ticket packages for the selected games will have access to these unique experiences.

The first celebration will kick off in the Bay Area on July 5, as the Oakland A’s go head-to-head against the Baltimore Orioles at the Oakland Coliseum. The event will include a pregame concert by Stu Allen and Mars Hotel, renowned for their Grateful Dead covers. Sunshine Becker, a member of Phil Lesh and Bob Weir’s band Furthur, is expected to perform the national anthem. Ticket holders will also receive an exclusive corduroy ‘Wolf’ hat, paying homage to Garcia’s famous ‘Wolf’ guitar.

Additional tribute nights are scheduled for July 30 at Fenway Park in Boston, August 2 at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, and August 6 at Yankee Stadium in New York. The celebration will culminate with an immersive gameday experience at Oracle Park in San Francisco on August 12, where the Giants will take on the Atlanta Braves.

Attendees at the Oracle Park event can look forward to a pregame performance, commemorative tie-dyed jerseys for special ticket holders, and a VIP package offering exclusive perks. A portion of the proceeds from all Garcia tribute events will be donated to the Rex Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in honor of the late musician.
