Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Announces Boys and Girls All-State Selections for Classes 1, 2, and 3
Local talent took the spotlight as the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) announced its boys and girls all-state selections for Classes 1, 2, and 3 on Wednesday. These honors, voted on by coaches representing each region of the state, recognized outstanding high school basketball players.
Salisbury senior Cooper Francis, Centralia guard Braylon Brunkhorst, and Tipton sophomore forward Ava Schlotzhauer were among the standout athletes named to the MBCA all-state teams.
Francis, who was named to the MBCA boys Class 2 all-state team, showcased his skills with an impressive 31-point performance against Weaubleau and a 37-point game in the third-place match against South Pemiscot at the MSHSAA Class 2 semifinals. Meanwhile, Brunkhorst and freshman teammate Ryenn Gordon earned their spots on the MBCA girls Class 3 all-state team after contributing to Centralia’s 26-5 record and a third-place finish at state this season. Tipton’s Schlotzhauer and junior teammate Charlee Bailey were recognized for their roles in the Cardinals’ 28-4 record and a third-place finish at state, securing spots on the MBCA girls Class 2 all-state team.
Additionally, Higbee senior Derek Rockett and Sacred Heart senior Carter Rice were selected for the boys Class 1 team, with Chadwick junior Clayton Garrison earning player of the year honors and his coach, Shawn Guerin, being named coach of the year as Chadwick triumphed with a 29-3 season and the MSHSAA Class 1 Championship victory.
The MBCA’s all-state selections highlighted the exceptional talent and achievements of high school basketball players across Missouri, showcasing the dedication and skill of these young athletes on the court.
