Minnesota Launches E-Bike Rebate Program

Cyclists in Minnesota have something to celebrate as the state’s online application for e-bike rebates is set to go live on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The program offers rebates of up to $1,500 toward the purchase of an e-bike, with eligibility based on the applicant’s income. The Minnesota Department of Revenue will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

E-bikes, also known as electric bikes, are bicycles equipped with rechargeable electric motors to assist riders with pedaling. These bikes typically range in price from $600 to $2,500 or more. Minnesota joins a handful of states that provide e-bike rebates, with the online system capping applications at 10,000 requests.

Qualified individuals who receive a rebate certificate must purchase their e-bike from an approved retailer. Currently, over 190 retailers throughout the state are eligible for the program, ensuring accessibility for interested cyclists.

For those eager to apply, the online application will be available on the designated website, and a helpful YouTube video guide is also provided to assist applicants through the process. With the state’s allocation of $2 million for each of the next two years, thousands of customers are expected to benefit from reduced e-bike prices, encouraging more Minnesotans to embrace eco-friendly transportation options.
