Microsoft Unveils New AI PCs and Adobe Suite Support for Windows on Arm

Microsoft’s recent AI event showcased new Copilot features and introduced new Surface products. The tech giant is set to launch a new suite of AI PCs that will handle AI queries on-device to address privacy concerns. Leveraging Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite, Microsoft is rolling out a range of new AI PCs, including the latest Surface Pro and Surface Laptop.

Previous versions of Windows on Arm, like the one in the Surface Pro X, lacked support from major players. However, Adobe has now committed to bringing its full suite of apps, including Adobe Premier Pro, to the Windows on Arm platform.

The Surface Pro X, powered by Microsoft’s Arm-based SoC, offers a fanless design ideal for travel. While many Windows applications are emulated on the OS rather than native, the device is suitable for web apps and basic tasks. However, compatibility issues arise as apps designed for x86 environments need to be emulated on Arm, leading to performance challenges.

Adobe Suite, a key player in the creative industry, had been hesitant to fully support Windows on Arm due to emulation concerns. While some Adobe apps are native to Arm, broader support was lacking until the recent Microsoft event where Adobe announced plans to expand compatibility.

Adobe’s full range of apps is expected to arrive ‘soon’ on Microsoft’s new AI PCs powered by the Snapdragon X Elite SoC. This move signifies a significant step forward for AI applications on Microsoft’s Surface lineup.
