Microsoft Introduces Quick Share Feature in Windows 11 Preview Build

Microsoft has introduced a new feature in the latest Windows 11 Preview Build 22635.3785 aimed at simplifying file sharing between PCs and Android devices. This new feature includes a dedicated icon called ‘My Phone’ in the Windows Share pop-up, making it easier for users to share content wirelessly.

The feature, known as Quick Share, was initially released on Samsung devices and later integrated into Google’s Nearby Share. With continuous improvements by Google, Microsoft has now incorporated this simplified file-sharing option into Windows 11. Users in the Insider Program with the Preview Build installed can access this new icon to initiate file transfers seamlessly.

For the ‘My Phone’ icon to appear on Windows 11, both the PC and the Android device must be paired. Additionally, users need to have the Phone Link app on their computer and the Link to Windows app on their Android device. Once these prerequisites are met, users can take advantage of the new sharing feature on the Windows 11 Preview Build.

While the feature is currently available to a limited number of users through the beta channel, its inclusion in the Preview Build suggests a broader rollout in the near future. Apart from the file-sharing icon, the latest Windows 11 Preview Build introduces various other enhancements, such as jump lists on the Start menu and improvements to Windows Spotlight for an enhanced user experience.

Stay tuned for more updates on the evolving features of Windows 11 as Microsoft continues to enhance the user experience and functionality of its operating system.
