MICHELIN Guide Unveils First-Ever Selection for Mexico, Featuring 157 Exceptional Restaurants

The prestigious MICHELIN Guide has recently unveiled its first-ever selection for Mexico, showcasing the finest restaurants across various regions of the country. The 2024 edition features a total of 157 exceptional restaurants, including 42 Bib Gourmands, 16 one MICHELIN Star, and 2 two MICHELIN Stars establishments. Additionally, 6 eateries have been honored with the MICHELIN Green Star for their commitment to sustainable gastronomy.

The unveiling of the MICHELIN Guide Mexico 2024 selection took place at a grand ceremony held at the El Cantoral cultural center, where 18 Stars illuminated the gastronomic heavens of Mexico. The Guide’s inspectors meticulously evaluated restaurants in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo, and Nuevo León to identify the top culinary experiences in the country.

The selection process for the MICHELIN Guide Mexico 2024 adhered to the Guide’s rigorous methodology, focusing on criteria such as the quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, chef’s personality reflected in the dining experience, and consistency across the menu and time.

Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, expressed delight in celebrating the diverse Mexican culinary landscape, highlighting the country’s regional diversity and culinary traditions. From upscale restaurants awarded one MICHELIN Star to vibrant street ‘taquerias,’ Mexico’s culinary scene impressed the inspectors with its authentic and indulgent offerings.

Two standout restaurants, Quintonil and Pujol, made history by receiving Mexico’s first-ever two MICHELIN Stars accolades, solidifying their status as culinary gems in the country. These recognitions underscore Mexico’s position as a premier gastronomic destination, attracting food enthusiasts and travelers seeking exceptional dining experiences.
