Michael Mosley: Olive Oil Consumption Can Significantly Reduce Health Conditions

Michael Mosley has said that consuming olive oil every day will significantly reduce a number of health conditions.

In one of his latest uploads this month for his Just One Thing podcast on the BBC, the health guru spoke to a Scottish university professor, Dr. Bill Mullen, on why the oil can have a whole host of ‘surprising benefits.’

Olive oil can protect your brain, improving your memory and reducing chronic inflammation. And according to Dr. Mullen’s latest research from the University of Glasgow, just two tablespoons of olive oil a day can significantly reduce the risk of developing heart disease.

The Mediterranean diet has been shown to be one of the healthiest in the world – and it just so happens that a major component of this is olive oil. Mr. Mosley said he is a ‘big fan’ of this diet, of which his Fast 800 diet – and book – is based on.

He explains that not only is it good for your health, it tastes great too such as a drizzle on top of salads. If you opt for extra virgin olive oil, according to the expert, it is rich in polyphenols – a micronutrient that naturally occurs in plants – that have a wide range of health benefits.
