Meta’s Messenger has introduced a new feature called ‘Communities,’ resembling WhatsApp’s functionality, allowing users to join a community without being part of a specific Facebook group. This feature, initially launched on WhatsApp in 2022, is now accessible to all Messenger users.
The ‘Communities’ feature enables admins to establish communities of up to 5,000 members who can engage in real-time conversations. Previously, members were required to belong to the same Facebook Group, but now this restriction has been lifted.
This new feature is anticipated to be beneficial for various entities such as organizations, schools, and private groups, facilitating more organized and structured interactions within the community.
Meta has provided insights on how the communities on Messenger will operate, stating that users can create dedicated communities to foster connections and enhance engagement.
