Meta’s Horizon Worlds “metaverse” platform has achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the top 10 most used apps on the Quest Store in the US. This announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg during Meta’s Q4 2023 earnings call, indicating the platform’s growing popularity among Quest owners.
The Meta Quest Store publicly displays the ‘Most Popular’ apps, providing insights into the most played experiences at any given time. Currently, Horizon Worlds holds the #8 position in the US, reflecting a substantial growth from its previous rank of around #20 a few months ago.
This surge in popularity can be attributed to the platform’s continuous enhancements. Meta has established a new studio, Ouro Interactive, dedicated to developing high-quality games within Horizon using imported 3D assets created in professional desktop modeling software. Notable games launched by Ouro include Super Rumble, Citadel, and Shootball. Additionally, Meta has been extending the 3D asset importing capability to select third-party creators, enabling the creation of worlds with higher fidelity graphics.
As the metaverse continues to gain traction, Meta’s Horizon Worlds stands out as a compelling platform offering an immersive and evolving experience for users.
