Memorial Day events are set to take place in the Cape Fear region to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. Communities in Southeastern NC are gearing up for various ceremonies and activities on this significant day.
Belville Memorial Day Ceremony
Belville will host a Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in the Belville Riverwalk Park. The event is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at Noon. Mayor Mike Allen is expected to deliver a speech during the ceremony.
Boiling Spring Lakes Memorial Day Ceremony
The VFW Post 10400 in Boiling Spring Lakes will conduct a Memorial Day ceremony at 3161 George II Hwy SE starting at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, lunch will be provided for attendees.
Clarkton Community Day Parade
Clarkton will organize a community day parade on Memorial Day. The lineup is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on the north end of US Hwy 702 Business near the EJ Cox building, with the parade officially commencing at 10:30 a.m.
Oak Island Memorial Day Observance
The Oak Island VFW will hold a Memorial Day Observance at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Island VFW. The event is in collaboration with VFW Aux, Oak Island Elks, and Cape Fear Blue Star Mothers. Activities during the observance will include the national anthem, prayer, speeches, hanging of memorial wreaths, rendition of Amazing Grace, closing remarks, and more.
