Mega Heracross Raid Potential Analysis in Pokemon GO

Mega Heracross is set to make its debut in Pokemon GO on Saturday, April 13, with a special raid day scheduled from 2-5pm on that day, and will continue to be available in regular Mega Raids until April 25. In this analysis, we will explore its potential as a raid attacker in both its bug and fighting types.

It’s important to note that the simulation data used for this analysis is 1-1.5 years old and does not account for shadow raids. Despite this, Mega Heracross currently holds the top position as the #1 bug and #1 fighting attacker, narrowly outperforming Mega Pinsir and Terrakion, respectively. Additionally, it is a bulky mega that can enhance group raids by boosting other players’ damage output.

However, when compared to alternative attacking types such as Ghost and Dark, bug types lack power. Mega Heracross falls short when pitted against megas like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Gengar, which are also more likely to provide a same-type 30% boost to other players. Furthermore, Mega Lucario is expected to surpass Mega Heracross as a solo fighting attacker. Despite this, Mega Heracross shines in group raids due to its bulk, making it a more valuable contributor when multiple players bring fighting types.

For group damage contribution, utilizing a ‘background’ primal or Mega Ray may yield better results. As a bug-type mega, Mega Heracross is overshadowed by a background Primal Kyogre, which provides a 30% boost to others’ bug-type damage. Similarly, any background primal already outperforms Mega Heracross as a fighting-type mega, but if Mega Mewtwo X also gains the background boosting feature, it surpasses the competition.
