MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 8250 Chipset with Enhanced Features

MediaTek has recently introduced the Dimensity 8250 chipset, a revamped version of the Dimensity 8200 that made waves in late 2022. The new Dimensity 8250 retains the impressive features of its predecessor while offering some enhancements.

Manufactured on a 4nm TSMC node (N4), the Dimensity 8250 boasts four Cortex-A78 cores, with one running at 3.1GHz and the remaining three at 3.0GHz, along with four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. The GPU has been upgraded to a Mali-G610 MC6 configuration, promising improved graphics performance.

One of the standout features of the Dimensity 8250 is its support for high-resolution displays. The chipset can handle FHQ+ displays at 180Hz or QHD+ displays at 120Hz, offering users a smooth and vibrant visual experience.

When it comes to memory and storage, phones equipped with the Dimensity 8250 can be configured with quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM with speeds of up to 6,400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring seamless multitasking and fast data access.

The camera capabilities of the Dimensity 8250 are equally impressive. The chipset’s ISP supports HDR processing in 14-bits and can accommodate sensors as large as 320MP or three 32MP cameras simultaneously. Additionally, users can enjoy 2x lossless zoom and 4K video recording at up to 60fps.

Furthermore, the Dimensity 8250 features built-in AV1 decoding for up to 4K resolution, HDR10+ Adaptive support, and SDR-to-HDR conversion with AI-powered noise reduction for videos, enhancing the overall multimedia experience.

On the connectivity front, the chipset is equipped with a 5G modem offering up to 4.7Gbps downlink speeds, as well as three-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless local connectivity.

AI computation is handled by the MediaTek APU 580, optimized to deliver efficient performance while managing thermals and power consumption effectively. The chipset’s AI capabilities enable it to work in short bursts, ensuring optimal efficiency.

Excitingly, the first smartphone to feature the Dimensity 8250 chipset, the Oppo Reno12, is set to debut on May 23. Additionally, the Reno12 Pro will be powered by the Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition, offering users a high-performance mobile experience.

In conclusion, the Dimensity 8250 represents MediaTek’s commitment to delivering innovative and powerful chipsets that cater to the evolving needs of mobile users. With its impressive features and enhancements, the Dimensity 8250 is poised to set new standards in the mid-range segment, offering users a compelling blend of performance, connectivity, and AI capabilities.
