McDonald’s Launches WcDonald’s, a Fictional Restaurant from Popular Anime, in Global Markets

McDonald’s is bringing anime fans’ dreams to life with the launch of WcDonald’s, a fictional restaurant from popular anime, in more than 30 global markets starting Feb. 26. The move comes as a result of a collaboration with major names in the anime industry, aiming to turn the fictional concept into reality.

The WcDonald’s universe will be brought to life in McDonald’s restaurants through a new savory chili sauce, manga-inspired packaging, original episodic shorts, and more. Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, expressed excitement about the move, stating that the WcDonald’s universe is a reflection of what fans have created over the years.

One of the highlights of the launch is the introduction of the Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, designed to animate fans’ taste buds with its unique combination of ginger, garlic, soy, and a hint of chili flakes. The sauce is available for a limited time and is said to pair perfectly with the fan-favorite Chicken McNuggets or any other menu items.

In addition to the new sauce, McDonald’s has collaborated with iconic Japanese manga artist/illustrator Acky Bright to design custom WcDonald’s packaging. The limited-time packaging features manga-inspired designs of WcDonald’s Crew characters, and fans will also be able to access weekly digital manga drops by scanning the code on the packaging.

Overall, the launch of WcDonald’s is a testament to the growing influence of anime in popular culture and the effort to bring fans’ creativity to life. With the introduction of the WcDonald’s universe in McDonald’s restaurants, anime enthusiasts can now immerse themselves in a real-life experience inspired by their favorite fictional restaurant.
