Maxi Gerardo Breaks Record to Secure Pole Position at MotoAmerica Supersport Qualifying

Maximiliano “Maxi” Gerardo made headlines at Barber Motorsports Park during the MotoAmerica Supersport qualifying session by breaking the record and securing pole position. The event took place on Saturday, with Gerardo achieving a remarkable lap time of 1:25.742 on his TopPro Racing Suzuki GSX-R750.

Gerardo, hailing from Uruguay, surpassed Tyler Scott’s previous All-Time Lap Record of 1:26.348 set in 2023. While Scott also improved his own record with a time of 1:25.934 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki, he will start from the second position on the grid. Mathew Scholtz qualified third with a time of 1:26.404 on his Strack Racing Yamaha YZF-R6.

PJ Jacobsen, despite a crash on Friday, managed to secure the fourth spot with a time of 1:26.445 on his Rahal Ducati Moto w/XPEL Panigale V2. David Anthony completed the top five qualifiers with a time of 1:26.478 on his Wrench Motorcycles Suzuki GSX-R750.

The high number of entries in the Supersport category prompted MotoAmerica to introduce a Time Attack qualifying session. The top 20 riders from Qualifying One on Friday were given an additional 10-minute session on Saturday to enhance their times. The final grid positions will be determined based on the riders’ fastest lap times from the various qualifying sessions.

Stay tuned for the complete Supersport qualifying results as soon as they are released.
