Maniac: A New Game on Steam Brings Back Classic GTA Experience

Maniac, a new game available on Steam, brings back the classic experience of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) in a fun and wacky way. Inspired by the unconventional way some players used to play GTA III, Maniac recreates the thrill of trying to outlast law enforcement in a city filled with chaos and mayhem.

The game, described as the ‘lovechild’ of GTA and Vampire Survivors, offers a unique gameplay loop set in a randomly generated city. Players must navigate through the city, causing mayhem, collecting money, and attempting to survive for 20 minutes before the city is nuked. However, law enforcement is aggressive and relentless, making survival a challenging task.

Upon death, players can use the earned cash to upgrade various abilities, such as increasing their character’s resilience, speed, or combat skills. Additionally, players can recruit NPCs to join their cause, adding an extra layer of chaos to the gameplay.

One of the game’s notable features is its top-down camera perspective, reminiscent of the old GTA games, which adds to the fun and lighthearted nature of the gameplay. This approach allows players to enjoy the mayhem without the constraints of hyper-realism, offering a refreshing take on the open-world crime genre.
