The Los Angeles Sparks faced a tough loss to the Seattle Storm, ending their winning streak at two with a score of 95-79 on Tuesday night. The Sparks now stand at 2-3 in Commisoner’s Cup games following this defeat.

Dearica Hamby, recently named Western Conference Player of the Week, showcased another impressive performance with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Li Yueru also shined, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds, two assists, and a block. Aari McDonald contributed 15 points, while Rae Burrell added eight points, four rebounds, and two assists. The game started with former Spark Nneka Ogwumike leading the Seattle offense with four consecutive points, giving them an early advantage. Despite a slow start, Layshia Claredon’s layup helped the Sparks stay competitive. LA showed more energy and aggressiveness in rebounding compared to their recent games.

As the game progressed, Lexie Brown’s instant offense was evident as she scored a quick 3-pointer after being subbed in. Jewell Loyd of the Storm posed a challenge with nine points. The teams traded baskets, with Yueru’s impressive reverse layup standing out. The first quarter ended with both teams tied after a strong bench performance by LA.

In the second quarter, Seattle took a four-point lead before Burrell’s three-point play brought the Sparks within one. However, the Storm extended their lead to five. Both teams displayed efficient shooting, a notable improvement for the Sparks, who have struggled in previous games. The bench players contributed significantly with 19 points. Seattle managed to widen the gap to eight points by the end of the quarter.

Despite the deficit, LA fought back, reducing it to six points by halftime with a pair of free throws from Brink. The game showcased intense competition and impressive performances from key players on both teams.
