Local Restaurants Offer Free Meals for Veterans Day in Erie

As Veterans Day approaches, several popular dining establishments in Erie are gearing up to honor those who have served in the military by offering complimentary meals and special promotions. The initiatives aim to show gratitude to veterans and active-duty military personnel for their sacrifices and service to the nation.

On Monday, November 11, participating McDonald’s locations in Erie will provide free meals to all veterans who present a valid military ID. The offer is valid throughout the day, allowing veterans to choose from a breakfast or lunch/dinner meal. For breakfast, they can enjoy a free sausage egg McMuffin meal, which includes a hash brown and any size soft drink, coffee, or tea. For lunch or dinner, veterans can opt for a free 10-piece McNugget meal, complete with medium fries and any size soft drink, coffee, or tea. It’s important to note that these deals are available through dine-in or drive-thru services only.

In addition to McDonald’s, Panera Bread is also participating in the Veterans Day celebrations by offering a complimentary bagel and coffee to veterans. This promotion will be available at four Panera Bread locations in Erie on November 11. Veterans can take advantage of this offer by either showing up in uniform or presenting their valid Military ID or discharge papers. The complimentary bagel and coffee will be available until 11 a.m. on that day, and the offer includes one regular-sized hot or iced coffee along with one free bagel of choice. This initiative is part of a broader effort by Covelli Enterprises, which operates Panera Bread locations, to honor the military community. Sam Covelli, Owner/Operator of Covelli Enterprises, expressed his appreciation, stating, “Without the sacrifice and bravery of our men and women in uniform, we wouldn’t have a country to live in let alone a business to run. This is a small thank you for a very big reason. We are grateful to all veterans and service members for the freedoms they have afforded us.”

Sheetz, another popular establishment, will also show its support for veterans and active-duty military personnel by offering a free meal and car wash on Veterans Day. On November 11, veterans and active-duty military members can visit any Sheetz location to receive a free half turkey sub along with a regular size fountain drink. The offer allows for extras and add-ons to the sub, providing a customizable meal option. Additionally, Sheetz will provide a complimentary car wash for veterans, applicable to the $9 car wash option at locations equipped with car wash facilities. To qualify for these offers, veterans must present their Military ID or proof of service.

These initiatives by McDonald’s, Panera Bread, and Sheetz illustrate a collective effort by local businesses to honor and appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans and active-duty military personnel. By providing free meals and additional services, these establishments aim to create a sense of community support and recognition for the brave individuals who have served in the armed forces.

As Veterans Day draws near, it’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and show appreciation for those who have dedicated their lives to serving the country. Whether it’s enjoying a free meal or simply expressing gratitude, these gestures play a vital role in acknowledging the sacrifices made by military personnel.
