LinkedIn experiences widespread outage

LinkedIn users around the world are currently facing a widespread outage, with the professional networking platform experiencing technical difficulties. Users have taken to other social media platforms to express their frustration with the outage, which appears to have started around 3:40 p.m. ET.

It is unclear what caused the outage, but reports from Down Detector indicate that tens of thousands of complaints have been registered. Netblocks has also confirmed that LinkedIn is down in multiple countries, suggesting that this is a global issue.

This outage follows recent significant outages on other major websites, including Facebook and Instagram, both of which were down for several hours on Tuesday.

Currently, anyone attempting to access LinkedIn from the U.S. is greeted with an error message and a suggestion to visit the ‘Help Center.’ However, the Help Center link leads to a dead end, and even the ‘contact us’ hyperlink redirects to a LinkedIn domain that is currently inaccessible.

The Help Center page displays an error message indicating that the server cannot be located, and users are advised to double-check the URL or contact support if they believe the issue is a mistake.

Various theories have emerged on social media regarding the cause of the outage, with some users speculating about potential conspiracies. The outage has sparked comparisons to previous incidents, including the recent AT&T outage and the Netflix movie ‘Leave the World Behind.’

Even Merriam-Webster’s official X account tweeted about the incident, adding to the speculation surrounding the outage.

In response to inquiries, a LinkedIn spokesperson directed users to a tweet acknowledging the issue and assuring them that the LinkedIn team is working to resolve the problem. Users are encouraged to check for updates on the LinkedIn Status Page for further information.
