Lerner Publishing Group Collaborates with Planetary Society to Create Science Books for Young Readers

Lerner Publishing Group has recently announced a new collaboration with the Planetary Society, led by renowned science educator Bill Nye, to create a series of science books tailored for young readers. This partnership will produce 15 titles catering to various markets, with a specific emphasis on space science and exploration.

The launch of the brand took place on January 1 with the release of ‘Casting Shadows: Solar and Lunar Eclipses with the Planetary Society’ authored by the society’s chief scientist, Bruce Betts. This release was timely, aligning with the occurrence of multiple solar and lunar eclipses slated for 2024. Additionally, the fall season will witness the introduction of ‘Exploring Our Solar System with the Planetary Society,’ an eight-book series designed for children in grades two to four. Furthermore, there are plans for additional titles in the pipeline.

Established in 1980 by Carl Sagan, Bruce Murray, and Louis Friedman, the Planetary Society stands as the world’s largest space advocacy organization, boasting a membership exceeding two million individuals. Bill Nye expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, ‘Lerner Publishing Group is the perfect home for our new Planetary Society books. Lerner’s strong connections with schools and libraries will bring an out-of-this-world experience to new readers.’ Adam Lerner, the publisher and CEO of Lerner Publishing Group, echoed this sentiment, affirming that ‘Our new books will make the Planetary Society’s innovative resources and materials accessible to students across the country so they can learn about space, science, and our amazing solar system.’
