Leeward Renewable Energy Signs Solar Power Purchase Agreements with Microsoft for Texas Projects

Leeward Renewable Energy has recently inked power purchase agreements (PPAs) with tech giant Microsoft Corp for two 200-MW solar projects in Texas. The agreements are associated with the Morrow Lake Solar project in Frio County and Cradle Solar in Brazoria County.

The Morrow Lake Solar project, initiated in 2017 by Red River, a joint venture of SunChase Power and Eolian, is expected to conclude construction by the fourth quarter of 2024. On the other hand, construction of Cradle Solar is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2024 and finalize by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Both solar farms will utilize thin-film modules manufactured by First Solar Inc, a company with which Leeward has placed significant module orders in the past to bolster its portfolio.

This move signifies a significant step towards the expansion of renewable energy in the USA, with companies like Walmart, Volt, and Primergy also committing to substantial clean energy projects in recent times.
