Krewe of Janus Parade Set to Roll Through Monroe and West Monroe

Get ready to experience the magic of the Krewe of Janus parade as they gear up to roll through the streets of Monroe and West Monroe at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 3. This year marks their 41st anniversary, and the theme ‘Jammin’ with Janus’ promises to highlight music over the decades.

Behind the scenes, the Krewe of Janus members have been hard at work preparing their floats for the upcoming spectacular event. Captain Steve Turner revealed that over 1.8 million items, including their signature hats, will be thrown from the floats, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.

Notably, this year’s King and Queen are a mother-son duo, Renata Rushing and Ethan Landor, adding a special touch to the celebration. The floats will also feature a tribute to Tarver Braddock, a Neville High School student who tragically passed away earlier this year.

As excitement builds for the parade, Ouachita Parish 911 Communications has issued safety tips for attendees. They advise arriving early before street closures, staying behind barricades, designating a meeting spot in case of separation, and arranging for a sober driver if alcohol will be consumed.

Aside from the main parade, there are also other events scheduled, including the Children’s Parade and the Krewe of Paws Pet Parade. The Children’s Parade will kick off at 10:00 a.m. at the Pecanland Mall in Monroe, while the Pet Parade will commence at 1:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Commerce Street in West Monroe.

With so much to look forward to, the Krewe of Janus is all set to captivate the community once again with their dazzling display of floats, music, and entertainment. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary celebration of Mardi Gras spirit and traditions!
