Just in time for the Playoffs, Kia Corporation is set to launch in-car NBA Display Themes allowing Basketball Fans to showcase their team spirit. The release date is scheduled for April 19, 2024, in Irvine, CA.
EV9 owners will soon have the opportunity to personalize their vehicle’s cockpit with the colors and logos of their favorite NBA teams. Initially available on the EV9 model, these Display Themes are expected to expand to other Kia models in the future. Fans can purchase NBA-themed designs through the Kia Connect Store, with availability starting from April 9th, coinciding with the end of the NBA regular season and the excitement leading up to the playoffs.
As part of Kia’s collaboration with the NBA, the company introduces a new level of self-expression through its Digital Features and Services platform, catering specifically to NBA basketball enthusiasts. Over-the-air updates for Display Themes will commence for EV9 owners on April 9, allowing them to personalize the driver-facing 12.3-inch instrument cluster and AVN screen with the distinctive colors and logos representing each of the NBA’s 30 iconic teams.
In the future, other Kia vehicles equipped with the modern Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system, featuring Digital Features and Services OTA capability, are expected to access the NBA themes as well. Fans can choose from a variety of team themes, such as the Golden State Warriors’ blue and golden yellow or the Chicago Bulls’ red, black, and white, to display their loyalty.
Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, expressed excitement about the latest OTA update, stating, “As avid basketball enthusiasts, we’re thrilled to introduce our latest available OTA update which combines the thrill of the NBA with the opportunity to personalize your Kia vehicle. This is just the tip-off, as we’re committed to enhancing the ownership and driving experience with more exciting themes, collaborations, and digital features to be introduced in the future.”
The 2024 EV9, being the first Kia model with remote upgrade capabilities through OTA, will be the initial vehicle to offer NBA display themes before extending to other models equipped with the ccNC infotainment system. The NBA-themed customization aims to elevate the driving experience for fans and enthusiasts alike.
