Kendrick Lamar, the renowned rapper, is teaming up with the creators of ‘South Park,’ Matt Stone and Trey Parker, for a new live-action comedy set to hit theaters on July 4, 2025. The film, to be distributed by Paramount Pictures, promises to bring some humor to the big screen just in time for the nation’s birthday.
Amidst tough competition from other major releases, including ‘Jurassic World 4’ and James Gunn’s ‘Superman,’ the film is expected to make a splash. Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation also showcased trailers for sequels to ‘Smile,’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,’ and ‘Gladiator,’ along with the announcement of a reboot for the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise.
Paramount CEO Brian Robbins expressed his excitement, stating, ‘This script is one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks.’ The film’s script, penned by Vernon Chatman, has been praised for its humor and originality.
Aside from Lamar, the project will be produced by Dave Free, Stone, and Parker. Lamar, known for chart-topping hits such as ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ and ‘The Blacker the Berry,’ has also curated the soundtrack for ‘Black Panther.’
Stone and Parker, famous for their work on ‘South Park’ and ‘Team America: World Police,’ are also behind the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical ‘Book of Mormon.’ With such a powerhouse team behind the project, the upcoming comedy is highly anticipated by fans of both Lamar and the ‘South Park’ creators.
