Keegan Bradley Named Captain of 2025 US Ryder Cup Team

Keegan Bradley, the 38-year-old professional golfer, has been named as the surprise captain for the 2025 US Ryder Cup team. This announcement comes after Tiger Woods declined the role, making way for Bradley to lead the United States against Europe in the prestigious golf tournament.

Bradley, who has won one major championship and six PGA Tour events, expressed his excitement for the opportunity, stating, ‘My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger.’ Despite being on the losing side in his previous appearances as a player in 2012 and 2014, Bradley is eager to take on the challenge of captaining the US team.

The 45th edition of the Ryder Cup will be held at the Bethpage Black course in New York from 25-28 September, with Europe being led by Luke Donald. Donald, who led Europe to victory in the last edition, will face off against Bradley in what promises to be an exciting competition.

While Tiger Woods was initially considered a top contender for the captaincy, he ultimately declined the offer citing other commitments, including his role on the PGA Tour policy board. This decision paved the way for Bradley to step into the leadership role for the 2025 event.

Looking ahead, speculation is rife that Woods may take charge of the US team for the 2027 Ryder Cup, scheduled to be held at Adare Manor in Ireland. This significant event will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the tournament and could see Woods leading the US side in an attempt to secure an away victory.

As Bradley gears up to lead the US team, PGA of America president John Lindert commended his past Ryder Cup experience, strong relationships, and unwavering passion for the event, highlighting the valuable assets Bradley brings to the role of captain.
