Jon Bon Jovi, the legendary rock icon, is finding himself in a new role as his children embark on their journey to marriage. With three out of his four kids – daughter Stephanie and sons Jesse and Jake – recently getting engaged, Bon Jovi reveals that he is not always kept in the loop regarding their wedding plans.

During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Bon Jovi shared, “I’m on a need-to-know basis, and they don’t tell me much.” Despite his lack of involvement in the specifics, the proud father expressed his support for his children’s decisions.

The eldest son, Jesse Bongiovi, aged 29, announced his engagement to girlfriend Jesse Light in 2022. Following suit, Jake, 21, proposed to his girlfriend, the renowned actress Millie Bobby Brown, in April 2023. Stephanie, the 30-year-old daughter of Bon Jovi, is also set to tie the knot, although details about her partner remain private.

Having grown up in the limelight due to their father’s fame, Bon Jovi acknowledges that his children have been observant of his journey and have likely drawn inspiration from his experiences. While offering advice on navigating fame, Bon Jovi believes that ultimately, his children will forge their own paths.

Reflecting on his family dynamics, Bon Jovi notes, “I think, if anything, kids are very observant, no matter who you are. And they’re watching. So hopefully, by example, they learn. And then they’re going to do what they want to do. Same way I rebelled against my family, they’re going to do.”

As his children enter different phases of their lives, Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea Bongiovi, who have been longtime partners, find themselves adjusting to the idea of being empty nesters. Despite the empty nest, the household remains lively with their 20-year-old son Romeo and the returning shifts of their adult children.
