Jodie Foster, the renowned Hollywood actress, has recently revealed that she kept her acting career a secret from her children when they were young. During an appearance on ‘The View,’ Foster confessed that she wanted her kids to see her as their mom, not as a Hollywood star.
Foster, who shares two sons with her former partner Cydney Bernard, explained that she didn’t want her children to be confused about her profession. She recounted an incident when her eldest son, Charles, believed she was a construction worker after visiting her on a working set and receiving a toy tool belt from her.
The 61-year-old actress did not specify when she eventually disclosed the truth to her sons, but she mentioned that they have accompanied her to various Hollywood events. However, despite their support, Foster revealed that her sons have no interest in watching her movies with her, except for her current television series, ‘True Detective.’
She also mentioned that there are certain films she would never show her sons due to concerns about potential teasing, citing the example of the 1994 movie ‘Nell,’ in which she starred alongside Liam Neeson. Foster expressed that her sons often tease her about the film, despite never having seen it.
Despite her successful career and public appearances, Foster has managed to maintain a sense of normalcy in her relationship with her children, prioritizing her role as a mother over her celebrity status. Her candid revelations provide a glimpse into the personal life of a Hollywood icon, showcasing the complexities of balancing fame and family.
