Jim Gaffigan Talks Fatherhood and Comedy on The Kelly Clarkson Show

Jim Gaffigan, the well-known comedian, recently shared his thoughts on fatherhood during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Gaffigan, who is a father of five children aged 11 to 19 that he shares with his wife Jeannie, humorously compared being a dad to being a backup quarterback in the NFL. He described the experience as being part of the team but not the star, and the nerves that come with rare moments of being ‘brought into the game’.

During the show, Gaffigan and Clarkson discussed the upcoming Mother’s Day, with Gaffigan acknowledging the heroism often associated with mothers. He also touched on the challenges and importance of fatherhood, jokingly referring to it as the ‘most important thing I will fail at’.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Gaffigan humorously remarked on raising his children in New York City, jokingly calling it a ‘huge mistake’. Despite the challenges, he expressed that his kids enjoyed growing up in the bustling city, albeit with some changes over the years.

Gaffigan’s candid reflections on parenting, mixed with his signature humor, offer a glimpse into the everyday life of a father juggling comedy, family, and the unique experience of raising kids in a vibrant city like New York.
